If you’re staying with us in Peyia and fancy a little adventure that’s close by (and super easy to get to!), Ayios Georgios Church and Harbour is the perfect spot for a laid-back day out.
You can hop on the local bus right from Peyia, and in no time you’ll be winding your way down towards the coast. It’s an easy, scenic ride with gorgeous views of the sea and countryside along the way.
Ayios Georgios Church
When you arrive, the first thing you’ll spot is the beautiful whitewashed church of Ayios Georgios. Perched on a small hill overlooking the water, it’s one of those picture-perfect Cyprus scenes. Bright white walls, a blue dome, and the sparkling Mediterranean stretching out below. It’s peaceful, simple, and full of charm. A lovely place to take a quiet moment (and a few great photos, of course! ).
Just below the church, you’ll find the little harbour, where fishing boats bob gently in the water and the sea shimmers in the sunshine. There’s a small café nearby too. Perfect for a cool drink or a light lunch while you take in the view. It’s one of those spots that feels beautifully local and calm, far from the busier beaches.
Yeronisos Island
And just beyond the harbour sits Yeronisos Island. A small rocky islet with a fascinating bit of history. The island was once home to an ancient settlement, and archaeologists have uncovered ruins dating back to the early Christian period. Including remains of a basilica and other structures that tell stories of life here centuries ago.
It’s easy to imagine sailors stopping by on their journeys across the Mediterranean, and locals gathering at the church and harbour much like they do today. The island is now a peaceful nature spot, often surrounded by calm blue water and a few curious seabirds. A beautiful reminder of Cyprus’s long and layered history.
If you’re in the mood to explore more, there are walking trails nearby that follow the cliffs and coastline. Giving you stunning views across the sea and the island. Or you can simply relax, enjoy the sunshine, and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

Whether you stay for an hour, or the whole afternoon, Ayios Georgios Church, Harbour, and Island are little treasures that perfectly capture what makes this part of Cyprus so special. Beauty, history, and a wonderfully relaxed pace of life.
