There are different trails to the beautiful Caledonia Waterfall. The ‘half trail’ leads directly to the waterfall and back. It is the easiest and the shortest hike, and is also the most popular. Good for kids and older people, and it’s only about a 40-minute round trip (not including the time you spent splashing in the water).

You can’t miss the entrance to this trail. It is on the main road up to Troodos Mountains, located exactly opposite the turning for Platres. The pathway starts on the left-hand side of the trout farm, and looks like a long driveway.
The Nature Trail
As with all Troodos nature trails, there is an information board at the entrance, with details about the walk and interesting things to see on the way. The walk is easy enough, however there are parts that are a little muddy and wet, even in summer.
The walk takes you across a series of bridges, crisscrossing the river in various places. The trail is full of different trees (all with little name tags in Greek, Latin and English), bushes and wildflowers. There are an assortment of butterflies, lizards and birds to see along the way. All of whom have made the trail their home.
Caledonia Waterfall

The pathway seems to finish at the waterfall. A great spot for a picnic, and a splash in the river. Unlike Milomeris Waterfall (which is situated down the road) there isn’t a pool at the bottom of the 12 metre cascade, only a shallow area of water which runs off into a stream. You can have a little paddle, take a few photos, but it’s not a place for swimming.
After a splash in the cool crystal clear water, you can turn round and follow the same route back.
If you are feeling adventurous, you can carry on, as the trail doesn’t end at the waterfall. There are steps on the left of the falls, which takes you to the top. The trail then continues on to Troodos.
