If you’re in Cyprus and looking for a little adventure that doesn’t involve a beach towel or cocktail (I know, rare, right?), let us introduce you to one of our favourite short hikes on the island: the Cyclops Nature Trail.
Located near Cape Greco, this trail gives you a taste of Cyprus’s wilder side. With sea views, rugged cliffs, hidden caves, and a sprinkle of ancient myth. What’s not to love?
The Trail: Short, Sweet & Scenic
The Cyclops Trail is about 3 kilometers long (each way), and it’s not too difficult. Perfect for a morning walk or an afternoon leg stretch. The path starts at the parking area for Konnos Bay, and hugs the coastline, so you’ll be treated to stunning sea views, limestone cliffs, and lots of photo ops along the way.
Bring water, wear decent shoes (it’s rocky in places), and be prepared to pause a lot, not from exhaustion, but because it’s just that pretty.
The Cave: Enter if You Dare
About halfway through the hike, you’ll come across the Cyclops Cave, tucked into a rocky hillside. According to local legend, this was once the home of, you guessed it – the one-eyed giant from Greek mythology. While no actual Cyclops live there today (probably), stepping inside is still super cool.
It’s not a deep cave, but it’s fun to explore, and the inside stays surprisingly cool even on a hot day. Kids (and grown-up mythology nerds) will especially love imagining what it was like back when monsters roamed the Mediterranean.

Why It’s Worth It
Besides the mythology vibes, the trail offers a quieter, more natural side of Cyprus that a lot of beachgoers miss. You’ll walk past wild thyme bushes, ancient-looking trees clinging to cliffs, and the endless blue of the Mediterranean stretching out in front of you.
And when you’re done? There’s always time for a dip in the sea at nearby Konnos Bay, just a few minutes away and the perfect post-hike reward.
Final Thoughts
The Cyclops Nature Trail and Cave might not be the most famous spot in Cyprus, but it’s one of those experiences that sticks with you. It’s the kind of place where myth meets nature, and where you’ll leave feeling just a little more enchanted than when you arrived.
So grab your sneakers, pack a snack, and go meet the (former) home of a legend.
